British-Australian Joseph Nolan, has been hailed by ABC Radio National ‘as one of the great organists of our time’ and by Limelight Magazine ‘as indisputably one of the world’s finest organists’. Joseph has alsobeen lauded by BBC Radio 3 Record Review for ‘his miraculous playing' and by Gramophone for his ‘towering technique, vivid virtuosity and inspired interpretive insight’.

Joseph’s discography for Gramophone label of the Year, Signum Records, is a who’s who of the world’s greatest organs including St Sulpice, Paris, La Madeleine, Paris, St Etienne Du Mont, Paris, St Sernin Toulouse, St Francois de Sales, Lyon, St Bavo Haarlem, St Ouen Rouen, and Buckingham Palace.

In January 2025, over only four nights, Joseph completed the monumental challenge of recording the complete organ works of the Parisian genius and recluse, Charles Valentin Alkan, at Eglise St Martin, Dudelange, Luxembourg. 

These recordings have been awarded innumerable five-star reviews, Editor’s Choice, Critics’ Choice and Recordings of the Month and Year in Gramophone, Limelight, BBC Music Magazine and MusicWeb International.

Apple Classical recently awarded Joseph’s recording of Widor’s 5th and 6th symphonies from La Madeleine Paris it’s Editor’s Choice, over 169 other recordings on the platform.

Joseph has performed as a soloist with many of the major orchestras, including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at Sydney Opera and on a national tour with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra alongside famed Venezuelan pianist, Gabriela Montero and conductor, Alexander Shelley.

Joseph will make his debut as a featured soloist in the Singapore Symphony Orchestra Season in October 2025. In January 2026, Joseph will record a disk featuring Saint Saen’s Organ Symphony No.3 transcribed for organ at Berliner Dom, Germany.

Joseph was awarded the prestigious higher doctorate, The Doctor of Letters, by the University of Western Australia and the medal of Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Government for services to French music.
