Serena Wang has been described by the San Francisco Chronicle as “undeniably promising” and has appeared with orchestras including China Philharmonic, China National Center for Performing Arts Orchestra, Shenzhen Symphony, Shanghai Symphony, Guangzhou Symphony, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Israel Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, Vancouver Symphony and Orquesta Juvenil Universitaria Eduardo Mata. She has worked with eminent conductors including Zubin Mehta, Gustavo Riveroeber, Charles Dutoit, Christoph Eschenbach, Long Yu, Guoyong Zhang, Lu Jia, Yang Yang and Qiyuan Zhu.
First Prize winner at the China 2nd National Youth Piano Competition in Xiamen (2010) and the 15th Asia Chopin Piano Competition in Japan (2014), she has performed in Finland, Italy, Switzerland, Israel, United States, Singapore, Japan and China. She made her debut recording under Channel Classics at the age of 9, featuring solo works by Mozart, Chopin, Liszt, Poulenc, Shostakovich, Tan Dun and Zhaoyi Dan.
The highlights of the 2024/25 season include performing at the opening concert of Shanghai Music in the Summer Air Festival (MISA) in July 2024, followed by a concert with Novus-Classica Camerata under Yukuang Jin and a five-city tour with the same ensemble. In December 2024, Serena collaborated with violinist Ning Feng for duo recitals across Hangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing, and performed Mozart, Beethoven, Korngold and Richard Strauss, receiving great reviews for her chamber music debut in China.
Serana began to learn piano at the age of four and studied with Zhaoyi Dan from 2010. After graduating from primary school in 2016, she left China for Boston, USA, where she studied with Meng-Chieh Liu. In 2018, Serena began to study in the Juillard School Precollege with Prof. Veda Kaplinsky. She is currently continuing her studies with Prof. Robert McDonald at the Curtis Institute of Music.
